Mary Insana Fisher, PT, PhD, OCS

Mary Insana Fisher, PT, PhD, Board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Certified Lymphedema Therapist, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Dayton. She graduated from Boston University with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy and earned her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Kentucky. She completed her initial and advanced lymphedema training at the Foeldi Clinic in Germany. She has more than 30 years of clinical practice experience in orthopedics and oncology rehabilitation. She serves on the Miami Valley Hospital Premier Health Oncology Committee, is past Secretary of the APTA Oncology, and is Editor-in-Chief of Rehabilitation Oncology. Dr. Fisher has been teaching physical therapy over 25 years and serves in an advisory capacity to physical therapy and physical therapist assistant programs. Dr. Fisher’s current research interest focuses on functional return in those with cancer. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her service and research. She was honored as a Woman of UD in 2022 and was presented with the Academy of Oncologic Physical Therapy President’s Award in 2019 and 2022. She has presented her work nationally and internationally and published in such peer-reviewed journals as Rehabilitation Oncology, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Journal, Physiotherapy Research and Practice, and others.


Shana Harrington, PT, PhD, SCS

Shana Harrington, PT, PhD, SCS

Shana Harrington, PT, PhD is a Board-certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy (SCS) and is Manual Therapy Certified (MTC). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998, a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 2000 from the University of St. Augustine, and a PhD in Human Movement Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009. Dr. Harrington completed a NIH K-12 in 2014 at the University of Florida under the mentorship of Steven Z. George. She is currently a Clinical Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at the University of South Carolina where she also serves as the Program Director. Her research interests involve the areas of survivorship, pain, and patient-reported outcome measures in survivors of cancer. Dr. Harrington has received numerous grants related to her research interests, presented nationally and internationally on the topics, and has numerous published manuscripts related to her interests. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Cancer Survivorship and the Rehabilitation Oncology Journal.


Lori Boright, PT, DPT, DScPT, CLT

Lori Boright, PT, DPT, DScPT, CLT

Lori Boright, PT, DPT, DScPT, CLT is an Assistant Professor at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan where she also serves as Coordinator of the Graduate Certificate in Oncology Rehabilitation. She is a Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialist, credentialed by the University of Northern Colorado Cancer Rehabilitation Institute. She received her DScPT and Graduate Certificate in Oncology Rehabilitation from Oakland University, DPT from AT Still University, MPT from University of Michigan Flint, and BS in physiology from Michigan State University. Her research agenda focuses on primary and secondary disease prevention inclusive of prehabilitation for a variety of cancer diagnoses and upstreaming initiatives for community and population health promotion. Dr Boright is a research associate at Ascension South East Michigan, where she is the principal investigator on a randomized controlled trial investigating prehabilitation for persons diagnosed with head and neck cancer. Dr. Boright currently serves American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Oncology as the Chair of the Hospice and Palliative Care Special Interest Group. She is also the Managing Editor for the APTA Oncology’s new clinically focused publication, Oncology Rehabilitation in Practice. Dr. Boright serves APTA Michigan as Chair of the Oncology Rehabilitation Special Interest Group. She has published many peer-reviewed publications and is a frequent speaker at the state and national level in the prevention and education domains. She co-edited and authored the textbook, Oncology Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians published by Elsevier in October 2022.


Meghan Huber, PT, DPT, CLT

Meghan Huber, PT, DPT, CLT

Meghan Huber, PT, DPT, CLT, Board Certified Specialist in Oncologic Physical Therapy completed both her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at The University of Mary in North Dakota. After graduating with her DPT, Dr. Huber completed a one-year clinical oncology physical therapy residency through Beaumont Health in Michigan. She is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine, Board-Certified Specialist in Oncologic Physical Therapy, and a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Dr Huber’s clinical practice focuses on providing outpatient oncology rehabilitation and lymphedema services to patients throughout the continuum of cancer care at The Mayo Clinic. While she primarily focuses on clinical care, she has also co-authored textbook chapters within Oncology Rehabilitation; A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians, published a case report, and has presented at both state and national level conferences. Dr. Huber continues to be an active member involved in the American Physical Therapy Association Oncology Section.


Emily Compagner, PT, DPT, PCS

Emily Compagner, PT, DPT, PCS

Emily Compagner, PT, DPT, PCS is a pediatric physical therapist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Emily received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology with a minor in German in 2017 from Hope College and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University (CMU) in 2020. She received her board certification in pediatrics in 2023. She has served as a clinical lecturer at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Oakland University. Emily is the secretary of APTA Oncology, the current co-chair of the APTA-MI Oncology Rehabilitation Special Interest Group (SIG), and the membership/communications chair of the APTA Oncology Pediatric SIG. Emily was a member of the Knowledge Brokering cohort of 2023-2024 focused on pediatric oncology activity recommendations. Emily is a contributing author to the Oncology Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians, 1st ed. She has received various awards, most recently the 2023 APTA Michigan Presidential Award Recipient and the Outstanding Alumni Award from CMU in August 2024. Her clinical interests include pediatric oncologic and hematological rehabilitation knowledge brokering, and collaborating with music therapy services to maximize patient outcomes.


Hallie Lenker, PT, DPT

Hallie Lenker, PT, DPT

Hallie Lenker, PT, DPT is a pediatric physical therapist on the Johns Hopkins Children’s center pediatric rehabilitation team since 2011, serving as manager since 2023. She serves as adjunct faculty in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Fredrick Community College. She served as the chair of the APTA Oncology Pediatric SIG 2018-2023. She is a founding member and continues to be active on the PICU UP! Committee institutionally and outside of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Hallie is the rehabilitation representative for the burn and trauma teams within the Children’s Center with American Burn Association (ABA) accreditations and Maryland Institution for Emergency Services System (MIEMSS-trauma) accreditations. She has authored 2 textbook chapters, one on Early Mobility in the PICU in Pediatric Critical Care 6th ed, and one on Pediatric Cancer Management in the Oncology Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians 1st ed. Her clinical interests include early mobility in the pediatric ICU, service delivery in pediatric acute care, pediatric cancer rehabilitation, and gait mechanics.
