34.2 - Oncology and Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice
Course Description
This course provides participants with wide-ranging clinically useful material related to cancer care in orthopedic physical therapy practice. Cancer has been one of the leading causes of death, yet as evaluation and management strategies improve, a substantial proportion of individuals are surviving and thriving after a cancer diagnosis. While oncology and orthopedics have classically been considered separate specialties, given the survivorship rates individuals with a history of cancer will likely present in orthopedic settings. The authors of this course systematically discuss implications of cancer diagnoses and treatment across the lifespan. Participants of this course will thoroughly understand how to safely and effectively manage cancer patients in the orthopedic clinic.
