Meet the Speakers

Michael Costello, PT, DSc, OCS, MTC

Michael Costello is Department Chair and Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department at Ithaca College, where he teaches courses addressing psychosocial aspects of patient care and the management of orthopedic conditions, and coordinates the Performing Arts Wellness Initiative on campus. He was the founding Director/Coordinator of the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program and Spine Rehabilitation Fellowship Programs at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY, where he continues to mentor and teach courses related to clinical reasoning, management of spinal conditions, clinical application of pain sciences, and manual therapy. His scholarship explores the management of pain, performing arts rehabilitation, and Tai Chi. His clinical practice focuses on the management of individuals with persistent neuromusculoskeletal pain conditions and performing artists.

Monique DeLuca Watson, PT, DPT, OCS, CMTPT/DN

Monique DeLuca Watson is a Clinical Specialist at Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network in Columbia, MD with a specialty in orthopedics and a subspecialty in performing arts physical therapy. She has completed various advanced, post-professional training including both an orthopedic residency through Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY and a performing arts fellowship with Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network in Baltimore, MD. Aside from clinical care, Monique also serves as an APTA Certified Clinical Instructor for DPT Students and an Instructor/Mentor for the Performing Arts Physical Therapy Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Additionally, she is involved in various performing arts educational, research, and outreach initiatives including musculoskeletal wellness screens, pre-pointe assessments, backstage care, and wellness lectures with focus on injury prevention and promoting peak performance.

Guest: Andrew Kunin, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Andrew Kunin is a Clinical Specialist at Johns Hopkins Network in Columbia, MD with a specialty in treating chronic and persistent pain. He has completed numerous post-professional training programs including a manual therapy fellowship through Manual Therapy Institute. Andrew is an instructor and mentor in the Johns Hopkins and George Washington Orthopedic Physical Therapy program and is the founding director of Johns Hopkins Persistent Pain Physical Therapy program. In addition, Andrew served as the primary physical therapist for treating musicians at the Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network Clinic for Performing Artists at the Peabody Institute for 2 years.
