CSM Abstract Review and Research Programming Workgroup
The APTA Orthopaedic is seeking nominations for individuals to serve as members on the CSM Abstract Review and Research Programming Workgroup.
The Purpose of this workgroup is as follows:
The CSM Abstract Review and Research Programming Workgroup is responsible for the review and decision-making process for APTA Orthopaedic CSM platform and poster abstract submissions. We are seeking individuals who can assist the Workgroup Chair in all aspects of this process.
Specific Responsibilities of Workgroup Members:
- Identify and recruit peer reviewers for APTA Orthopaedic CSM poster and platform abstract submissions
- Assist in assigning reviewers to abstracts
- Collaborate on the decision-making process for CSM research programming
- If attending CSM:
a. serve as judge for determining the APTA Orthopaedic poster award, or assist in identifying the pool of judges.
b. serve as a moderator for one or more platform sessions, or assist in identifying session moderators.
Term (duration):
Starting at the completion of CSM 2025 (staggered 1 - 3 year appointments)
Time expectancy:
Workgroup members typically contribute to the recruitment of peer reviewers in the spring (~1-2 hours), work on assigning reviewers to abstracts at the end of July (~4 hours/week for 2 weeks), and collaborate on decision-making in August or September (~ 2-4 hours). Any activities during CSM would take 4-5 hours, total. Occasional meetings and communications will be needed throughout the year for preparation and planning.
Travel requirements:
There are no current travel requirements, but attendance at CSM is encouraged.
Fiscal implications:
This is a volunteer service position. There is no financial reimbursement for committee workgroup members.
Essential requirements for this position:
- Active Member of APTA Orthopaedic
- Research experience
- Experience peer-reviewing scientific abstracts and manuscripts
