Advocacy Grants
The Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is committed to assisting its members and chapters with the financial costs of performing advocacy efforts. Each year beginning January 1, the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (AOPT) has available $ 10,000 to fund grants for APTA chapters to assist with financial costs of defending the scope of current and emerging areas of orthopaedic physical therapy practice, and supporting legislative and regulatory efforts related to grass roots advocacy efforts. Applicants may request funding for up to any amount not to exceed $10,000. Funding is available on a first come first served basis until all available funding is allocated for the calendar year.
Applications will be reviewed by the Scope of Practice Workgroup (SoPW). The SoPW will make funding recommendations to the AOPT Executive board. The AOPT board makes the final decision whether to fund the proposal.
By offsetting the expense of performing advocacy efforts via an AOPT grant, the chapter will be able to use its own financial resources on other activities associated with legislative and regulatory efforts related to the promotion of issues in Physical Therapy Practice.
