Research Awards Workgroup
The APTA Orthopaedic is seeking nominations for individuals to serve as members on the Research Awards Workgroup
The Purpose of this workgroup is as follows:
The Research Awards Workgroup is responsible for reviewing and nominating research publications for the Rose Excellence in Research Award to be awarded at CSM. The workgroup members will consider all published research papers from select peer-reviewed journals that examine issues related to orthopaedic physical therapy as being eligible for the award. The Committee will formally review the leading orthopaedic journals for eligible papers and will nominate the winner to present to the BOD for a vote.
Additionally, 2 members of this Workgroup will serve as APTA Orthopaedic representatives contributing to the selection of the JOSPT Awards, including the George J. Davies — James A. Gould Excellence in Clinical Inquiry Award and the JOSPT Guy G. Simoneau Excellence in Research Award. We are seeking individuals who can assist the Workgroup Chair in all aspects of this process.
Term (duration):
Starting at the completion of CSM 2025 (staggered 1 - 3 year appointments)
Time expectancy:
Approximately 10 hours over the summer and fall quarters. Time includes scanning assigned journals (2) for nominations, grading selected publications, and discussion (as needed) with Research Awards Workgroup to finalize nomination.
Travel requirements:
There are no current travel requirements, however attendance at CSM is encouraged.
Fiscal implications:
This is a volunteer service position. There is no financial reimbursement for committee workgroup members.
Essential requirements for this position:
- Active Member of APTA Orthopaedic
- Experience reviewing research publications and/or familiarity with clinical research methods
